Endovascular procedures are performed with the use of catheters placed into the arteries or veins of the body through a small needle puncture in the skin (usually in the groin). With the use of x-ray and ultrasound guidance, any abnormal blood vessel can be repaired with the use of stents, angioplasty balloons, lasers, atherectomy devices, or with the use of medications infused through the catheters. Endovascular techniques are applicable for the treatment of the majority of patients with cardiovascular, vascular and vein conditions.
** Not all patients or procedures are appropriate for minimally invasive surgical techniques. Talk with your physician to know what options are right for you.
